MSU President Peter McPherson received a top honor from the U.S. Department of Treasury this week for his work in helping to rebuild Iraq's economy.
McPherson, who spent four months in Iraq, was among five recipients presented with the Distinguished Service Award by U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow.
McPherson said one of his team's most significant accomplishments was replacing Iraq's currency with $2 billion in new money. Iraqis now have six denominations instead of two.
"There's no question that was a success for the people of Iraq," McPherson said on Friday.
"This was a recognition for myself as well as for a number of other people."
