Kids Art program
The creations of children of a summertime creative workshop are being developed into items for sale.
The Kitzart program an initiative of the national community foundation is being held in two communities this year - the first held in Soufriere ended Friday while the second will begin in the Piaye community.
The children’s creations are now being produced into mugs, t-shirts and other saleable commodities.
The program is being held each year at this time for children between the ages of 6 to 10 years. The goal of the activity to bring out the creativity of the children and to encourage then to use common items found within the community to create various pieces of art. Take this flower for instance it was taken by children to create this painting that could be used as a design for gift paper or textile.
Director of the NCF Jacinta Anius Lee says the items produced from the children’s creations can become hot souvenirs for tourists.
A second phase of the activity began in Piaye today.
Children in that community are expected to engage in similar activities. Instructors for the program included Peace Corps Volunteers, teachers, and graphic designers.
