"Frank's retirement marks the culmination of a remarkable career involving both public service and corporate leadership," said Shattuck. "A terrific friend and inspiration to all of us, Frank's contribution to Constellation Energy and BGE has been invaluable. During his tenure, BGE faced many historic challenges and opportunities including electric deregulation in Maryland, the technological modernization of BGE, and Hurricane Isabel, the most damaging storm in the utility's 188-year history. Through it all, Frank guided BGE with an unwavering hand and a commitment to excellence that earned him the respect of everyone throughout BGE and Constellation Energy.

"Frank may be retiring from his role as an active corporate executive, but he will never retire from his role as an active citizen and conscience of our community. We look forward to the advice and counsel Frank will offer us in the years ahead. All of us at Constellation Energy and BGE wish Frank and his wife June all the best of success in their future endeavors."

A graduate of Yale University with a degree in economics and a juris doctorate from the University of Maryland School of Law, Heintz joined BGE in 1996 as a vice president. In 1997, he assumed leadership of the utility's gas division, and in 1998, was named executive vice president of utility operations. He was elected president and chief executive officer in July 2000. Prior to his tenure with BGE, Heintz served for 13 years as chairman of the Maryland Public Service Commission. Committed to public service, Heintz also held elected office as a delegate in the Maryland General Assembly, and then councilman on the Baltimore City Council. Earlier in his career, Heintz served as both a teacher in the Baltimore City Public School system and volunteer with the Peace Corps in India.
