A Canadian visit with Richard and the boys

Off the court with the Bradley Braves' during their exhibition tour of Canada:

Day One

Early season road trips are always good bonding opportunities for a young college basketball team like Bradley. The one the Braves began Friday to southern Ontario for five exhibition games is no exception.

[Excerpt]

Whoever drew freshman Sam Singh's name had an easy assignment as I found out during another delay at Chicago's O'Hare Airport.

Singh was born on the South Pacific island of Fiji, the home of his father, who met Sam's mother there when she was serving in the Peace Corps. They married in Fiji and soon after Sam was born there, the family moved to Missouri.

Ten years ago, when Sam was in the fourth grade, the family visited the Singh relatives in Fiji.

"It was paradise, just perfect," Singh said. "I remember going to a show where the islanders walked on fire. It was so awesome. I'm very blessed to have such a background."

One of those relatives, is not the world's No. 1 golfer, Vijay Singh, although he is from Fiji.

Singh and his three other teammates 6-9 or taller drew some stares walking through the O'Hare concourses. Patrick O'Bryant and Brandyn Heemskerk, both officially listed at 7 feet tall, are the first BU 7-foot teammates in history.

Then read the "RPCVs for Kerry" statement of support and statements by Dr. Robert Pastor, Ambassador Parker Borg, and Paul Oostburg Sanz made at the "RPCVs for Kerry" Press Conference.

RPCV Carl Pope says the key to winning this election is not swaying undecided voters, but persuading those already willing to vote for your candidate to actually go to the polls.

Take our poll and tell us what you are doing to support your candidate.

Finally read our wrap-up of the eight RPCVs in Senate and House races around the country and where the candidates are in their races.

Schwarzenegger praises PC at Convention Schwarzenegger praises PC at Convention
Governor Schwarzenegger praised the Peace Corps at the Republican National Convention: "We're the America that sends out Peace Corps volunteers to teach village children." Schwarzenegger has previously acknowledged his debt to his father-in-law, Peace Corps Founding Director Sargent Shriver, for teaching him "the joy of public service" and Arnold is encouraging volunteerism by creating California Service Corps and tapping his wife, Maria Shriver, to lead it. Teresa Heinz Kerry celebrates the Peace Corps Volunteer as one of the best faces America has ever projected in a speech to the Democratic Convention. The National Review disagreed and said that Heinz's celebration of the PCV was "truly offensive." What's your opinion and can you come up with a Political Funny?
