Candidates' Question of the week
Wednesday, October 13, 2004
With the candidates for the First and Second Essex and Middlesex senatorial districts.
Q: Who was the first local elected official that you admired, and why?
[Excerpt]
Susan Tucker, Democratic incumbent, Second Essex and Middlesex
I have always had the deepest admiration for Paul Tsongas. As he moved through the ranks government, from the county to the national level, he challenged the status quo and had a vision for what could be achieved in our communities and our nation. Senator Tsongas was a pro-business Democrat who reminded his party that we need to work in partnership with the private sector to create opportunities for all Massachusetts citizens."
