Drafted out of Peace Corps by US Army. Signed for 3 years to be a medic since I
was a conscious objector but could not get that status. Trained as medic for 10
weeks then 40 weeks. Volunteered for Vietnam as medic and extended tour to
1.5 years. Back home to Santa Monica CA, challanged and passed LVN (LPN) and
RN Boards in California. Finished college there and accepted and completed
medical school in Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia in 1977. Completed
Internal Medicine Residency in Tucson in 1980 and Emergency Medicine
Residency in UCLA Harbor General Hospital, Los Angeles area in 1982. Back to
Tucson 1983 and full time ER doctor since then.
Any thoughts you have now looking back on peace corps days?:
During training in Davis CA the Indian Instructor said to be very flexible when you
get to India. That attitude has held true through all of my life.
