The Peace Corps regional director for Africa will discuss Peace Corps programs and HIV/AIDS initiatives in Africa at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Floyd Payne Campus Center at Tennessee State University.

Henry McKoy also will discuss the agency's effort to recruit minority and older volunteers, according to a Peace Corps press release.

McKoy's visit to TSU is a part of the Windows onto the World Lecture Series, sponsored by the TSU Office of International Business Programs. The event is free and open to the public.

Joining McKoy will be former Peace Corps volunteers from the Nashville area, including faculty and graduates, who served in such countries as Afghanistan, Chad and the Dominican Republic. They will share their experiences and discuss opportunities available.

President Bush appointed McKoy a Peace Corps regional director in March 2002.

RPCV Carl Pope says the key to winning this election is not swaying undecided voters, but persuading those already willing to vote for your candidate to actually go to the polls.

Governor Schwarzenegger praised the Peace Corps at the Republican National Convention: "We're the America that sends out Peace Corps volunteers to teach village children." Schwarzenegger has previously acknowledged his debt to his father-in-law, Peace Corps Founding Director Sargent Shriver, for teaching him "the joy of public service" and Arnold is encouraging volunteerism by creating California Service Corps and tapping his wife, Maria Shriver, to lead it.
