I just Googled and found you. I was in that group. The camp had one hand cranked telephone, if I'm not mistaken. I was in Chimbote. That city was pretty funky with about 20 fishmeal factories, but they needed us, that's for sure. I loved the country and the people, though. I haven't been back, but I went to Chile last year. I'm in contact with some Peruvian RPCVs. There was a grouped that trained in the summer of 1967 (right - the Summer of Love) in my current hometome of Berkeley. Some of them are still around here. I've kept up my Spanish and love of Peruvian food - aji de gallina - yum.
