Richard Lupinsky Jr., is a member of the Peace Corps and has been teaching biology and health at the Dumila Secondary School in Tanzania, Africa, for almost 2 years. He is a long distance away from the Wyoming Valley, where he grew up.
A veteran of the U.S. 82nd Airborne Division and a graduate of Mansfield University and Meyers High School, he instructs children and the local teachers about the spread of disease and specifically HIV/AIDS awareness. He also serves as a school facilitator organizing resources such as people and money to deliver health education to the local villagers.
His mother, Joanne Wolfe, would like to facilitate the advancement of students by providing charitable aid to the Dumila Secondary School via the Peace Corps. The fund-raising has been assisted by the John Heinz Institute of Rehabilitative Medicine through the office of administrator, Tom Pugh.
Wolfe works at John Heinz in Wilkes-Barre Township, where her creative gift baskets will be on display. The public is encouraged to visit and purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win the themed baskets she has put together.
An information board will also be on display that shows photos of Lupinsky and his friends in Tanzania were he is a respected member of the community.

| Friends of the Peace Corps 170,000 strong 170,000 is a very special number for the RPCV community - it's the number of Volunteers who have served in the Peace Corps since 1961. It's also a number that is very special to us because March is the first month since our founding in January, 2001 that our readership has exceeded 170,000. And while we know that not everyone who comes to this site is an RPCV, they are all "Friends of the Peace Corps." Thanks everybody for making PCOL your source of news for the Returned Volunteer community. |
