AMMAN, Jordan (AP) -- Peruvian President Alejandro Toledo met with Jordan's King Abdullah II on Tuesday and discussed closer political and economic ties, the state Petra news agency reported.
Toledo, who flew in from neighboring Israel on Monday, held a 15-minute meeting with Abdullah behind closed doors at Amman's hilltop Basman Palace. The talks later resumed over a royal luncheon banquet.
There was no immediate word on details of the discussions. Petra only reported generalities, saying closer political and economic ties were high on the agenda. It did not elaborate.
It said the Peruvian leader, a former World Bank official, also was scheduled to meet with Jordanian Prime Minister Adnan Badran to sign unspecified agreements in the fields of education, tourism and culture.
