Jef. R. Buehler says that the Rutgers M.P.A. / I.D.A. program has "further expanded my horizons, increased my appreciation of more of our world, and given me a chance to rise to an ambitious challenge."
Mr. Buehler graduated from the Rutgers M.P.A./I.D.A. program in 1993, after serving * for two years in the western Dominican Republic, near the Haitian border. During his time as a Community education prom6ter with the Peace Corps, Mr. Buehler was involved with strengthening local parent-teacher associations, leading local empowerment workshops, and teaching in the local schools. As a secondary Peace Corps project Mr. Buehler was involved with agra-forestry, due to extensive de- forestation in the section of the Dominican Republic in which he lived and served.
Buehler said his course work with the Rutgers M.P.A. /I.D.A. program prior to his Peace `Corps service gave him "valuable training in dealing with organizations, cultures, and policy-making." Also, "Through exposure to abject poverty, (the program) gave mc an appreciation and understanding of people in real need," lie said. "Since then I have lived in Camden and Trenton, and kept the tradition of community service going."
Mr. Buehler currently works as a housing specialist in Housing and Community Development section of the New' Jersey Department of Community Affairs in Trenton, N.J. He also serves as secretary of his neighborhood association, the Mill Hill Society, works as editor of a local publication, ~w, and volunteers as a cluster leaders for the Mercer County-Philadelphia Area Peace Corps Association

As a follow-on to Peace Corps week, please read the letter and call your Representative in Congress and ask him or her to add their name to the letter. |
