Carol Wilkerson entered the Rutgers M.P.A./1.D.A. program in the Fall of 1994, and is expected to complete her Peace Corps service on the island of Nevis in the Eastern Caribbean in the Spring of 1997. In Nevis, Mr. Wilkerson serves as a volunteer with a community development organization, The Change Centre. In her work as a Media coordinator for the Change Centre, Ms. Wilkerson is organizing activities for area youth in dance, arts and crafts, sports and exercise. In another development project, Ms. Wilkerson assists with fund-raising for the local chapter of the Red Cross.
This program is excellent for anyone trying to break into the international arena," Ms. Wilkerson said from her station in the Eastern Caribbean. "It has provided me with classroom instruction as well as practical experience."
The Rutgers program also "has allowed me to use models such as problem-solving models in my field work," she said. "I can apply (the models) first-hand."
