Judy Foreman's nationally syndicated column appears in numerous newspapers, including the Boston Globe, the LA Times, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the Baltimore Sun and the New York Sun and many others, including foreign outlets, through Tribune Media Services in Chicago.

She is also an Affiliated Scholar at the Women's Studies Research Center at Brandeis University.

Her columns cover such topics as aging, women's issues (including hormone replacement therapy), exercise and fitness, cancer, heart disease, alternative medicine, depression, nutrition and many others.

Foreman graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Wellesley College, spent three years in the Peace Corps in Brazil, then earned a Masters degree in Education for General Purposes at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

During her Globe career, Foreman initially wrote features, then was a guest reporter at The Times of London for six months in 1982. When she returned to the Globe, she began writing full time on science and medicine. Foreman was a fellow in the Knight Science Journalism Fellowship program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1989-1990.

Back at the Globe after the fellowship, Foreman continued to write about science and medicine and several years later began writing the weekly "Health Sense" column, which was syndicated internationally through United Media in New York.

She has won numerous national journalism awards from groups such as National Headliners Award, the American Society on Aging, the National Women's Political Caucus, the American Heart Association, the Arthritis Foundation, the Associated Press Sports Editors, and the Clarion Award, among others.

She also co-wrote the script for a video documentary about a young woman dying from breast cancer that won the 1998 George Foster Peabody award

July 8, 2005: PC suspends program in Gabon Peace Corps announced the suspension of the program in Gabon citing the high cost of the program. In addition, a 2003 Inspector General report documented safety and security costs of $1 million that would be necessary to keep the program operating successfully. Background: In 1998 Peace Corps Volunteer Karen Phillips was was found murdered in the weeds about 100 yards from her home in Oyem, Gabon. Her killer has never been brought to justice.

Friends of the Peace Corps 170,000 strong 170,000 is a very special number for the RPCV community - it's the number of Volunteers who have served in the Peace Corps since 1961. It's also a number that is very special to us because March is the first month since our founding in January, 2001 that our readership has exceeded 170,000.
