Greetings, all!
I finally got some information about my living situation in Ouagadougou! I'll be living in a house with a third year Peace Corps volunteer (female). This is all I know about my future roommate, other than she will be moving in around the end of October. We'll have a three bedroom house within walking distance of the office, no air conditioning (just fans), a refrigerator, stove and "western-style" toilets are the features of this house. I've been told that security is good as it's in the same compound as the neighbors who are also the landlords. There's 24 hour CRS guard service as well. I may not be able to move in immediately as they will be painting the house, so I'll stay at the house of the Fellow (air conditioning!) and then perhaps in a hotel until it's completed. The ongoing joke at training has been that we're on Africa time, a good excuse for being late to something, so let's hope the painters aren't on Africa time!

| Friends of the Peace Corps 170,000 strong 170,000 is a very special number for the RPCV community - it's the number of Volunteers who have served in the Peace Corps since 1961. It's also a number that is very special to us because March is the first month since our founding in January, 2001 that our readership has exceeded 170,000. And while we know that not everyone who comes to this site is an RPCV, they are all "Friends of the Peace Corps." Thanks everybody for making PCOL your source of news for the Returned Volunteer community. |
