1988: Andrew Winters served in Guatemala in San Juan Sacatepequez beginning in 1988
Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Andrew Winters can be contacted at winters1ahotmaildcom
Country of Service: Guatemala
Training Group: October 1988
Cities you served in: San Juan Sacatepequez
Arrival Year: 1988
Departure Year: 1991
Work Description:
I was a public health nutrition volunteer which meant that I was supposed to talk to people about the 3 basic food groups, something that struck me as absurd. I found a niche for myself helping people organize their communities around specific projects they wanted to do and helping them find funds.
Bring us up to date on your life after the peace corps:
Managed various projects in public health and community development. Currently with USAID.
Any thoughts you have now looking back on peace corps days?:
I wish I could do it again, this time with my wife and kids.
Any message for returned volunteers?:
Let's work together to promote a progressive agenda back here at home.
