As a former Peace Corps volunteer in Niger (1990-1992), I am appealing to anyone who can to please make a donation to any of the several aid organizations currently in Niger, providing food and medicine for those at risk of dying of malnutrition and the illnesses associated with starvation. Your financial help is desperately needed! Even $10 and $25 donations will go a long way, if many of us pitch in.

Imagine what it would be like not be able to feed yourself or your children today, nor tomorrow, or the day after, and still not even into next week or the week after. Imagine what it must be like to watch your children during this time get thinner and thinner, crying and begging for food and all you can do is hold them in attempts to comfort them.

Unfortunately, due to drought and a devastating locust invasion that wasted their harvests this year, some 2.5 million people in Niger, West Africa, the world’s second poorest country, are living, not imagining, that horrible nightmare.

As a former Peace Corps volunteer in Niger (1990-1992), I am appealing to anyone who can to please make a donation to any of the several aid organizations currently in Niger, providing food and medicine for those at risk of dying of malnutrition and the illnesses associated with starvation. Your financial help is desperately needed! Even $10 and $25 donations will go a long way, if many of us pitch in.
