Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Kevin Elliott can be contacted at kevin_niall_elliottayahoodcom

Country of Service: Bulgaria

Training Group: B-12

Cities you served in: Tutrakan

Arrival Year: 2002

Departure Year: 2004

Work Description:

I was a Community Economic Development (CED) Volunteer in the Municipality of Tutrakan. I also taught English to the 8A class at Yordan Yovkov School and I was on the Camp GLOW Committee during my two years of service.

Other Countries you served in, Training Group Name Arrival Year, Departure Year, Work Description:

Prior to serving in Bulgaria, I was a PCT in the TEFL program in Uzbekistan with the UZ-12 group from August to September 2001. We completed five weeks of PST before being evacuated following the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001.

Bring us up to date on your life after the peace corps:

After COS from Bulgaria in July 2004, I spent a few weeks travelling around Bulgaria and Eastern Europe. I was also able to travel back to Central Asia with some friends that were in my UZ-12 group. We visited Sammarkand and Bukhara in Uzbekistan and also travelled to Lake Issiquil in Kyrgyzstan. After travelling for several months, I moved to Ireland to attend the MA in International Relations Program at University College Cork. I have completed my coursework and I am now looking for a job in the broad field of International Relations.

Any thoughts you have now looking back on peace corps days?:

I have many great memories from my Peace Corps experience in both Uzbekistan and Bulgaria. As I don’t live near any RPCVs at the moment, I don’t get the chance to share as many “this one time, in Peace Corps” stories but I’m always up for reminiscing via e-mail!

Anyone you are looking for or would like to hear from?:

I would love to hear from anyone that was in Uzbekistan (2001) and Bulgaria (2002-2004) with me and catch up.
