2000: J. R. Bullington served in Niger beginning in 2000
Returned Peace Corps Volunteer J. R. Bullington can be contacted at jbullingtonanedpeacecorpsdgov
Country of Service: Niger
Arrival Year: 2000
Departure Year: 2005
Work Description: Country Director
Bring us up to date on your life after the peace corps:
I planned to enter PC on graduation from college in 1962, but to my
surprise passed the Foreign Service Exam. I spent a full career in the
Foreign Service, including a tour as US Ambassador to Burundi. On retiring
from the Foreign Service, I worked at a university, but eventually found it
boring and decided to return to my PC dream (though as staff, not as a
Volunteer, since I have family responsibilities including a son to put
through college). I was hired as Niger Country Director in July 2000, and
am enjoying the experience immensely.
