I was on the verge of securing funds to send to Guinea-Bissau for accommodation when a member of the Fiji delegation shared with me that two frens were also prepared for a similar conference in 2004 but people at their finance section warned them otherwise.
Why are these people still left to dupe people over and over again???

Here is a general rule of thumb, folks:
If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't.
Also, an email WITHOUT YOUR REAL NAME, i.e. Dear Sir, that offers you money, should be fishy to anyone. Why would they not know your name if they are offering you hundreds of dollars based on a recommendation (by a friend you've never heard of, who happens also to be the one writing this letter? I recommended you to myself based on your website, whoever you are?)!?
Also, they are in California but their phone number is crazy - that nigerian-style phone number starting with "tel/fax +1800" or something - look up the area code if you want. It's NOT California.
I got this email today and was briefly excited, but before it even got to the part asking for payment for the 2nd half, I recognized the tell-tale signs of a scam.
Even the fact that a conference organizer, with a fully-english name, writes in terrible english (why are they letting her write the letters?) and names herself "female." We don't tend to do that in North America.
Notice also: it's usually addressed to "undisclosed recipients" or to a list of addresses that are suspiciously alphabetical (ie. john@hotmail.com, joho@hotmail.com, johp@hotmail.com) which suggests that the email is mass-spammed to completely random people, not
"based on a recommendation."
And to get even more in-depth - why would a poverty conference pay to send everyone to California - an expensive 1st-world state - but NOT have money for undoubtedly cheaper accommodations in Africa? Especially when consuming travel expenses in Africa would be better for the conference's so-called objectives?
Why would the conference be in two parts anyway? That makes everything twice as expensive and time-consuming, and if everyone HAS to go to both, it's a ridiculous imposition to ask them to pay for travel to a 2nd destination when they are all already together in sunny California???
Please, everyone, just use your head.

Effective and early action, as well as early warning measures, is required to prevent the growth of ethnic Hatred and potential violent conflicts.
The International Conferences against Racism & Child Abuse will be a unique opportunity to create a new world vision for the fight against racism and racial discrimination in the new millennium. In order to have a real impact, the Conference should not only promote greater awareness concerning the scourge of racism but also lead to decisive action at the international level in order to help those who suffer on a daily basis from racism and racial discrimination.

Hi i received the same message from a some one wishing to offer me an invitation to the conference due to take place in california and Senegal in december 2007.
They asked for my pass port number,names as stipulated in the pass port,date of bith,place of bith. But conforming to provide me with a Visa and Air ticket plus accomodation.
How true is this? Could it be a fraud?

i got thesame email but i dont need to be duped before i know they are fraudsters. when these guys are caught i think they should be made to face the firing squard or killed by manual hanging. imagine what it will take to type in your master card info to lose your money,nothing.
