Do you have experience working on HIV AIDS projects in Cameroon?
I am an RPCV considering doing a 6 month crisis corps assignment at a religious hospital in Njinikom, NW Cameroon. I would love to get the advice of others who have done similar assignments.
1)What were the biggest challenges (religion, cultural norms, lack of resources, lack of coordination, corruption, etc.)
2)What were the most rewarding aspects of such an assigment?
3) Are there any special challenges if you are a female volunteer (i.e. issues with women talking about candidly about sex, etc.)?
Any advice is greatly appreciated. I am excited but want to be prepared for the challenges.
