I taught basic education at the Sybil Brand Institute in Los Angeles (in other words, the LA County Jail for Women) for several years before my husband, Barrie, joined the Foreign Service. We are currently in Libreville, Gabon, where he is the Ambassador. prior assignments have included Conakry (where he was also Ambassador), Kinshasa, Islamabad, Pretoria, Lahore and Yaounde. We have two children, a son (Jolyon, who is a fish biologist) and a daughter (Brett, who is a graphic designer).
