I teach GED and lifeskills classes at a correctional institution, and one of my students asked me today if he would be able to join the Peace Corps when he is released. He had been looking up the Peace Corps in an encyclopedia, but couldn't find anything about that.

Go to www.peacecorps.gov
You can email or call the 1-800 contact # ... request the volunteer recruiting office and ask about the guidelines...
However, it's very doubtful that a released convicted felon would be accepted at this juncture (violent or non-violent crime?) ... maybe down the road ... He could start making a clean the record for the future by volunteering in his own community, obtaining and keeping a job, etc.
