You are Invited to a Launch Party for
an emerging non-profit organization that supports community-based art and media projects worldwide.
This special one-night showcase, co-sponsored by Megaphone Project and Art on Purpose, will feature a stunning exhibition of hand-made, all-natural silk shawls by Madagascarâ€™s Firaisankina Silk Weavers Cooperative, an association of over 100 women from three generations dedicated to promoting and preserving traditional Malagasy silk weaving. Alongside Firaisankinaâ€™s shawls, called lambas in Malagasy, will be portrait photography of the weavers by Prism director, Jack Gordon, and photography produced by the Soatanana youth photo club.
