An RPCV emailed us the following:
I am a Returned PCV (Northeast Brazil, State of Pernambuco 1970-74). While there I worked with a remarkable lady as my site partner in my first project site.
Her name was Marion Mendelsohn. She served in the Peace Corps for eight years...during I think the last eight years Peace Corps was in Brazil. She became known as the "Goat Lady" because of her project of introducing her very successful dairy goat strain into Brazilian goat herds. She had been a goat rancher in Napa California, where she lived until her death this last November 30th, at the age of 90.
I was happy to be a neighbor of hers here in California years after our return to the States and have continued to enjoy her company at our Norcal RPCV group activities over the years. We will all terribly miss her.
