Kau Ngaue Ofa -- I hope many of you will read Night Blind (my writing name is simply Jan Worth) and let me know what you think. Hugh Pickens of PCOL kindly solicited an excerpt for this site. Perhaps some of you who came after those of us who were there at the time of the Debbie Gardner murder have mixed feelings about it and perhaps you feel that you've heard enough. But I tried to offer more than simply a retelling of that tragedy, though it has been a huge part of my thinking about life over the years. I tried to convey in my story my affection for Tonga and for Peace Corps -- not the bowdlerized version that we are sometimes subjected to, but what it was really like -- and I want to know if, in your view, I succeeded in capturing at least some of what you remember.
