Any thoughts you have now looking back on peace corps days?:
I gained so much from my experiences in Togo! Working in health care for many years now, I meet veterans of many wars, for whom the war years remain the focal point of their lives. I am privileged to hear their "war stories" and reminisces. When I reach that stage in my own life, my experiences as a Peace Corps Volunteer will be the equivalent of those "war years". I'll be telling my caregivers about the kitten-sized spider who lived in my shower, the time I got a root canal in Dakar, how I got the scar on my knee (DT 125 accident!), the time a bush taxi stopped for an hour so a passenger could give birth, about palm wine, tchouk, about tilapia harvests and fufu....
