Dear Fellow RPCVs,

My name is Brian Peterson and I was a PCV in Ukraine from 2003-2005. I am now working with American Councils in Washington, DC and help administer three State Department-funded scholarship programs. One of these is YES (Youth Exchange and Study), which gives high school-age students from countries with significant Muslim populations the opportunity to study for one year at an American high school and live with an American family. Students are selected both for their fluency in English and demonstrated leadership at school and in their communities.

American Councils works specifically with Afghanistan and, this year, we are placing 18 Afghan students in American communities all across the U.S. Currently, there are 6 male Afghan students who still need host families. If you or someone you know would like more information on this opportunity to welcome an Afghan high school student into their home, please contact me at the e-mail address or number below.
