Can anyone comment upon life on Kanton (Abariringa) Island?

If you ever visited, how did you get to the island?

I am curious about this island too. My Dad was stationed there during WW11. There is very little info online. Only 24 natives live on the island and were starving until rescued by a British sailor in route to Australia.
