KENYA IS RELATIVELY SAFE PLACE TO VISIT. YOU WILL WANT TO KEEP A LOW PROFILE WHILE AROUND BIG CITIES. I WOULD BE ESPECIALLY CAREFUL IN AROUND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION STATE AREAS. I WOULD NOT CONGREGATE AROUND PUBLIC PARKS,GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS AND STRATIGIC AREAS KNOW TO BE HOT SPOTS BY POLITICAL STANDARDS. YOU SHOULD BE FINE TRAVELING IN THE RURAL AREAS. I WOULD STAY OUT OF WESTERN KENYAN LIKE KISUMU, KISII, KERICHO, AS THOSE ARE OPPOSITION TRIBAL AREAS WHICH THE VILOENCE IS OCCURING IN.
A LITTLE COMMON SENSE, KNOW WHO YOU ARE TALKING TOO, YOU SHOULD BE FINE

Hi, I am considering a summer job in Nairobi with travel to rural development (health, water, etc) projects. Will it be safe to travel to rural villages as long as I avoid western Kenya? How widespread is the violence now and is it likely to continue? How likely is it to spread or flare up again?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
