A native of Panama, Mr. Butcher holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Hunter College after which he spent two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Korea. He received a Masters of Arts in Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Butcher is employed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as Deputy Executive Director – Operations and is responsible for the operations of the Port Authority’s line businesses including the metro area airports, terminals, the Manhattan river crossings, the bus and rail terminals and the Port Authority Police. He manages an annual revenue budget in excess of $2 billion, an operating expense budget of over $1.8 billion, and an annual capital budget of over $1 billion.

Bloomfield College is pleased to announce the appointment of Ernesto L. Butcher Hon. ’05 to the Bloomfield College Board of Trustees.
A native of Panama, Mr. Butcher holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Hunter College after which he spent two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Korea. He received a Masters of Arts in Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Butcher is employed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as Deputy Executive Director – Operations and is responsible for the operations of the Port Authority’s line businesses including the metro area airports, terminals, the Manhattan river crossings, the bus and rail terminals and the Port Authority Police. He has received numerous awards for his professional work at Port Authority of NY and NJ and for his humanitarian efforts and community service. Mr. Butcher has been featured in Black Enterprise, Newsday, and Ebony Magazine. He has been a guest on several television shows including Univision’s Despierta America and the Listening Place.
He is currently a board member of JUMP (Joint Urban Manpower Program) in New York City. He has served on the board of Aljira, an organization devoted to promoting aspiring artists. He was also board president of the Newark-based Tri-City Peoples Corporation – a multi-service organization focused on housing and human services.
Mr. Butcher is a member of the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association and has served on the board. He is also a member of the American Society for Public Administration. He was formally a member of the Civil Engineering Research Foundation and presented at their 2002 CAB Executive Conference. Most recently he was a keynote speaker at the Sixth Annual Association of Aeronautical Technicians in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
