Black lawyers group elects new treasurer Read the original story
Alexander Rundlet, a litigation attorney with Podhurst Orseck, was elected treasurer of the Wilkie D. Ferguson Jr. Bar Association, which is also known as the Black Lawyers Association.
Rundlet has shown a passion for community service. He fought for criminal justice reform while serving as a post-graduate fellow and staff attorney at the Southern Center for Human Rights in Atlanta.
He also served two years as a health education volunteer in the Peace Corps in Mali, West Africa.
Rundlet earned an undergraduate degree in history from Dartmouth College in 1992 and a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1999. He went on to serve as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Andre M. Davis in the District of Maryland.
Before joining Podhurst Orseck, Rundlet worked as an assistant public defender for the 11th Judicial Circuit of Florida in Miami-Dade County.
He is admitted to the Florida, Georgia, Alabama and District of Columbia bar associations. He has also been admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the Northern District of Georgia, the District of Maryland, and the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the 11th and Fourth Circuits.
The Wilkie D. Ferguson Jr. Bar Association, named for the late district judge, is dedicated to helping to increase enrollment, retention and graduation of black law students in South Florida.
In addition to mentoring public school students, the group also provides financial assistance to students seeking to enter into the legal profession.
