Chris Shays, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, said his country have provided Turkey with aerial images and coordinates of the camps of the terrorist organization PKK, and Turkish military has taken action based on that intelligence.
"The United States is handling the problem and cooperating with Turkey in its fight against PKK terrorism. We are doing our best to locate PKK camps," he told Voice of America Radio.
"We are taking images of the camps by using satellites and convey them to Turkey with their exact coordinates. We have told the Iraqi government that we would not let the PKK use Iraq's north as base for its attacks inside Turkey and told the regional Kurdish administration to deal with the PKK problem," said Shays, who is also a member of a subcommittee on national security, emerging threats and international relations.
"PKK is definitely a terrorist organization and Europe should better understand this fact," he said.

"It is time to say: No more. No more trampling on our Constitution. No more excusing those who violate the rule of law. These are fundamental, basic, eternal principles. They have been around, some of them, for as long as the Magna Carta. They are enduring. What they are not is temporary. And what we do not do in a time where our country is at risk is abandon them." |
| What is the greatest threat facing us now? "People will say it's terrorism. But are there any terrorists in the world who can change the American way of life or our political system? No. Can they knock down a building? Yes. Can they kill somebody? Yes. But can they change us? No. Only we can change ourselves. So what is the great threat we are facing? I would approach this differently, in almost Marshall-like terms. What are the great opportunities out there - ones that we can take advantage of?" Read more. |
