Country of Service: Zaire

Training Group: Education Summer 1975

Cities you served in: Kisangani

Arrival Year: 1975

Departure Year: 1978

Work Description:

I taught ESL at UNAZA Kisangani and the ISP. My third year I served as Regional Rep.

Bring us up to date on your life after the peace corps:

I lived in D.C. until 1983 so kept in touch with many RPCVs. Most of the last 20 years I've been in Spokane WA. I'm a French teacher currently but my past career - including full-time Mom - has been, well, "checkered." Great memories of Zaire. Have lost touch with all my zairian/ congolais friends and students.

Any thoughts you have now looking back on peace corps days?:

Words can't describe. Tournees through the Ituri forest, Ruwenzori trip and dancing to "Cheri Bondowe" are among vivid memories. Aksanti sana, Kisangani.

Anyone you are looking for or would like to hear from?:

Anyone from our stage or who was in Zaire during 1975-78.
