This is Razia Ali Hamm, (Razia Ali, 1991-93). I'm wondering where we all are, what we are doing. I live in Gainesville, FL where I'm an Acupuncture Physician. After we were evacuated in 1993, I immediately went back to Rwanda and started working with Doctors Without Borders in Kigali in the displaced persons camps. When the genocide started, I continued working with DWB in refugee camps outside of Rwanda - Tanzania and Zaire, where I was able to reconnect with Rwandan friends and colleagues, and here a little of the stories of those who did and didn't survive. I was also able to visit Rwanda, post-genocide, with my husband, Andrew. We continued working with DWB in Bangladesh where we worked with Burmese refugees. Since 1998, I've recreated a life here in the US, studying, teaching and practicing Chinese Medicine.

HI Razia,

I am glad to find your information after I searched 'Peace Corps Rwanda'. I will be one of the first PCVs to return to Rwanda in January, 2009. I would love to hear about your experiences during your service, and what you expect will be different this many years down the line. Please contact me if you'd like at tvannat@sph.emory.edu

Thanks,
Tricia
