Nepal RPCV Rajeev Goyal, coordinator of the MorePeaceCorps campaign and recipient of the Franklin H. Williams Award, will be speaking in Austin
Goyal is coming to Minnesota to build grassroots support for an outreach campaign to double the Peace Corps by 2011, the 50th anniversary of the organization launched by the National Peace Corps Association. Goyal, 28, and a lawyer, was born on Long Island, NY, to Indian immigrants. He has raised more than $150,000 since 2001 for education, women’s empowerment, agro-tourism, and river protection projects in the rural hills of Nepal and is the founder of the HopeFor fundraiser series. Said Goyal, “Our success depends on how far we are willing to go. I’m asking not just returned Peace Corps volunteers in Minnesota but anyone inspired by the Peace Corps’ mission to contact me.”

Former Peace Corps volunteer to speak at library Monday
Former Peace Corps volunteer Rajeev Goyal will visit Austin Monday.
He will participate in a Taste of Peace Corps — Going Green Globally event in the large conference room at Austin Public Library 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday.
Dialogues will be held at 11:15 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 1:15 p.m.
The public is invited to hear the former Peace Corps volunteer speak.
Goyal served in Nepal (2001-03) and is a Brown University graduate.
He is coordinator of the MorePeaceCorps campaign and recipient of the Franklin H. Williams Award.
