BANAUE– The formal hearings on the Julia Campbell murder case ended today as the defense counsels of Juan Donald Duntugan, the American Peace Corps volunteer’s self-confessed killer, rested their case after presenting just one witness the other day.
Judge Ester Piscoso-Flor of Banaue regional trial court then set the promulgation of the decision of the case on June 30, as scheduled.
Duntugan’s defense team wrapped up their case after the absence of another defense witness, Emiliano Blas, the person with whom Duntugan allegedly held a grudge and whom he mistook Campbell for, for it to corroborate its argument that the suspect only committed homicide and not murder as he was charged with.
The other day, the defense team presented PO3 Arnold Dalluyon of the Banaue police station to whom Duntugan reportedly surrendered. - Charlie Lagasca

| Dodd vows to filibuster Surveillance Act Senator Chris Dodd vowed to filibuster the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act that would grant retroactive immunity to telecommunications companies that helped this administration violate the civil liberties of Americans. "It is time to say: No more. No more trampling on our Constitution. No more excusing those who violate the rule of law. These are fundamental, basic, eternal principles. They have been around, some of them, for as long as the Magna Carta. They are enduring. What they are not is temporary. And what we do not do in a time where our country is at risk is abandon them." |
