George LeBard: George is from Lake Tahoe, Nevada, USA, where he was working as executive Banquet Chef for Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe. He has been in Belize since 1981 when he first arrived as a Peace Corps Volunteer, assigned to the Ministry of Education (MOE), to train teachers in Curriculum Development. After three years of volunteer service George was requested by Peace Corps and the MOE to develop a post primary school for children unable to get into high school. The Belize Junior School of Agriculture was officially opened in September 1984. George served as Project Director for two years while the school was developing, it was then turned over to the MOE and is now a fully accredited functioning High School. George was then hired by Peace Corps Belize to serve as Associate Peace Corps Director in charge of operations, training, staff development, and a nation wide Environmental Education program for primary schools. George served for the maximum six years allowed by the US Government for overseas posting. He then started his own construction business in Orange Walk, which is now managed by his wife. He is 47 years old, married with three children.
