Stevens Point man serves in Peace Corps in Belize
Stevens Point man serves in Peace Corps
A Stevens Point man is now serving in the Peace Corps in Belize in Central America.
Chris Egle, a 1992 graduate of Stevens Point Area Senior High School, recently completed his two-month training period for Peace Corps volunteers in Belize City. The training covered cultural and technical training, with emphasis on the Creole heritage.
Egle is now assigned to the Ministry of Rural Community Develop in La Democracia, Hattieville, Freetown Sibun, Gracie Rock and Gales Point for two years. He is also performing violin and trombone in the Belize Chamber Music Orchestra in Belize City.
Egle graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1998 with degrees in music performance and mechanical engineering. He was a teacher assistant and did graduate work at UW-Madison in the mechanical engineering department from 1998-1999.
He is the son of Church and Mary Egle, 7668 Highway KQ, Custer.
