PROFESSIONAL OBJECTIVES:

Through the use of GIS and analyses and modeling of landuse change, I aspire to promote international awareness of the nonrenewable nature of our planet’s natural and biological resources which may lead to a more sustainable exploitation of the planet’s resources.



EMPLOYMENT HISTORY:

January 2001 – present: Independent GIS/LUCC consultant working for World Wildlife Fund, Colombia, Geographic Modeling Services, Syracuse, New York; ClarkLabs, Worcester, Massachusetts;



October 1997 – April 2000: U.S. Peace Corps, Ecuador, Ecuador. Community extension activities included GPS mapping for proposed conservation areas, agroforestry and environmental education with the Ecuadorian Ministry of the Environment and work with the Ministry of Public Health in HIV/AIDS, family planning and micro-nutrient deficiency education. Heavily promoted and propagated family gardens and fruit tree plantations in subtropical northwestern Ecuador.



June 1990 – July 1997: United South End Settlements, Boston, MA. Worked in various capacities for inner-city neighborhood development organization and their summer camp for boys, "Camp Hale". Jobs included program director, registrar, waterfront director, camp counselor, lifeguard, swim instructor, wilderness excursion leader, and weekend science and reading tutor. Currently serving as Parliamentarian on CHAA Board of Directors (Camp Hale Alumni Association).



EDUCATION:

Current MA Candidate (Geographic Information Systems for Development and Environment) at Clark University, Worcester, MA. Completion of thesis: December, 2001. Graduation: May, 2002.



BA (History) from Suffolk University, May, 1996. Graduated cum laude, 3.4 GPA. Two of my Suffolk years were spent interning and studying off-campus at the Center for International Studies in Madrid, Spain, the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador, and South Dakota State University.



TRAVEL:

Extensive travel experience dating back to 1986 includes studies and service work in Russia (three times), Greece, Cuba, Nicaragua, Spain, India, Uzbekistan, Ecuador, Colombia and Pine Ridge Oglala Sioux Reservation in South Dakota, USA.



SPECIAL SKILLS:

Spanish-speaker. I have formally studied the Spanish language for nearly seven years. I have also had extended stay in several Spanish-speaking nations.

Computer skills: MS Office, SPSS, VBA, Idrisi32 Release 2, ArcView GIS 3.2, ER Mapper, ERDAS, Maptitude, and ArcInfo
