STATE of HAWAII

* Natural Areas Reserves Program Manager, Division of Forestry & Wildlife: 11/91 - Present. State wide administrative responsibility for natural area reserve system consisting of 19 reserves, 1 national estuarine research reserve and a system of state/private cooperative projects. Oversaw $2 million budget, developed program management plans and policies, provided staff support for field managers, worked with state legislature, Natural Area Reserve System Commission and other state, private and federal resource management agencies as well as local community members to further conservation goals and objectives in Hawaii.

OFFICE of TECHNOLOGY ASSESSMENT I U. S. Congress

* Consultant: 10/91 - 1/92; prepared selected analyses of survey data on introduced animal species issues and concerns. Prepared document to be incorporated into final OTA report.

THE NATURE CONSERVANCY

* Intern - California Field Office: 6/1990 - 12/1990. Proposed, developed and completed feasibility study of establishing an international, multi-disciplinary center to address issues created by the presence of introduced animal species. Additional responsibilities included developing and writing a feral pig removal plan for Santa Cruz Island. Plan included work guidelines, time-lines and $750,000 budget.

* Preserve Director - Santa Cruz Island: 1/1987 - 7/1989. Overall responsibility for 55,000 acre nature preserve. Duties: design and implementation of stewardship, monitoring and research programs; long range resource planning; budgeting; liaison with landowner, govt. and private agencies; hired and supervised staff/volunteers; assisted development efforts; Supervised CA Conservancy's prescribed burn program.

* Preserve Manager - Santa Cruz Island: 10/1980 - 12/1986. On-site preserve management responsibility. Duties: implemented major feral animal control program; supervised staff/volunteers, established vegetation monitoring, exotic plant removal and research programs; maintained facilities and equipment in remote, rugged environs; liaison with landowner; assisted development efforts. Worked on other CA stewardship projects.

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA AT SANTA BARBARA

* Associate in Geography Department: 1/1980 - 3/1980. Teaching assistant for upper division navigation class. Presented lectures and laboratory exercises.
