WSN readers: I would be grateful if you would look at the attached and
consider giving what you can. This is an organization of (largely)
ex-Peace Corps people, that has an excellent record of actually getting
help to Sierra Leone. Please forgive the intrusion, and many thanks -
Kay Moseley

Responding to the current medical emergency in Sierra Leone, FOSL is doing
the following:

1. We are coordinating with others and urging for another medical airlift
to Sierra Leone by the British. With this airlift we should be able to
forward the FOSL 20ft container of medical supplies from Brunswick, Georgia
to London and then F'town. The wholesale value for these medical supplies
is $586,960.00. A US airline has agreed to transport the total contents of
this container to London at a substantial discount. We thank Africare and a
church group for their pledges towards transporting this container to
London.

2. FOSL is seeking financial contributions to the Relief Fund for
purchasing and transporting Emergency Health Kits that are specially packed
for treating war wounds. A complete kit is packed with enough drugs and
medical supplies for 10,000.00 people for three months. The total cost for
purchasing and transporting a kit (829.50kgs) into Freetown is $10,700.00.
Your contribution, however small, will make a difference - $100.00 will take
care of 100 people for three months.

3. We urge you to join our efforts in spreading the word about the
medical crisis in Sierra Leone to everyone, but particularly your
Congressional representatives. In conversations with staffers on the Hill,
we were told that while they have heard from many constituents about recent
disasters around the world, many of them have not gotten any messages about
the medical crisis in Sierra Leone. Your one letter or call expressing
concern and asking for attention to the medical emergency in Sierra Leone
will make a difference. You can also get your friends and relatives to
write or call. As a friend of a friend on the Hill always says, five
letters to your representative on an issue will get attention, twenty
letters will guarantee action.

If you wish to contribute to the Relief Fund, please send your checks or
money orders to:
