The Smithsonian Institution/Peace Corps Cameroon Commelinaceae Project
The Smithsonian Institution/Peace Corps Cameroon Commelinaceae Project was initiated in November, 1986. The Smithsonian's Dr. Robert Faden conducted an in-service training course for the first nine Peace Corps Volunteers (PCV) in March, 1987, and Project PCVs have led additional training courses. So far, more than 60 PCVs have participated in the Commelinaceae Project, which is accepted by the Peace Corps as an official secondary project. The PCVs have been in Agriculture, Agro- Forestry, Cooperatives, Community Development, Credit Unions, Fisheries, Health, and Math and Science Teaching programs.
