Cameroon: Laura Foradori - I had six babies named after me

Cameroon: Laura Foradori

"I am holding one of my namesakes, Baby Laura. During my stay in Cameroon, I had six babies named after me: five Lauras and one Lawrence. "These women are preparing food for a large death celebration. They spend the whole day cooking for around 100 to 200 people who will arrive in the evening for the all-night occasion. I am pounding the fufu in the middle mortar. This starch is the base for most of their meals. They eat this with a thick soup or cooked green."

"This is a group of women who called themselves the Green Revolution Farming Club. They had just made their first harvest of cassava (manioc) from a group farm demonstrating alley-cropping."
