On the return bus trip from La Fortuna to San Jose, the 3 hour trip turned into an adventure of more than 7 hours when we encountered a mud slide on the highway, then a flat tire on the bus while stranded in traffic. However, we were in good hands as two of the Peace Corps finest Volunteers, Zena and Bridgett, came to the rescue! Zena supervised passengers while they assisted changing the tire, and then entertained motorists while attempting to "Direct Stalled Traffic!" Sharing a spare "Snickers" bar, she became an instant Friend!
