DEVIN'S WEBSITE - Peace Corps Thailand

Dear Friends,

Greetings from Kamphaeng Phet Province, Amphur Phran Kratai.

I have been at Site for about 8 months now, and since I last updated this page, many things have changed. Here are just a few:

I have moved houses, and am now in a great house in a wonderful neighborhood, with a landlady (and her family) that takes such great care of me. The house itself is beautiful, very comfortable, and perfect for me. I even have a separate room dedicated solely to meditation. The grounds that my house occupies are equally nice. I have several different varieties of mango, banana, rambutan, longan, and coconut trees, along with many beautiful wildflowers. I even have an exotic wildflower tree that blooms every night (and closes by daylight) and releases a sweet perfume which surrounds my house. My neighbors are great. They really look out for me and I often find myself over at one of their houses eating, drinking, playing guitar, and trying to decipher the Thai language.

As far as work is concerned, things are going well. I am active in the community, and am working with several of the village offices regarding health, environment, education, culture, and general community outreach and development.

I continue to grow here; there are challenges and obstacles I face here everyday. Sometimes, I need to stop myself and remember to give thanks to these difficulties, and even to welcome them, as it is from them that I continue to grow.

At the time of this posting, it is the "cold" season here in Thailand, though I believe the Thais have a different concept of cold than I do. Nonetheless, I have to say, there was one day that I was a bit chilly and wore a long-sleeved shirt...for about half an hour. However, I'm in the hottest province in Thailand, so I couldn't expect differently, I suppose. Further up North, it actually does get quite cold, and to be fair, the nights are definitely cooler. There are also less mosquitoes and poisonous creatuers, with the exception of snakes, as I unfortunately found out yesterday (trying to wrestle one off of me)!

Know that I am doing well and that I HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU SOON!!!

For information relating to my home Province, go to my Thailand page and scroll to the bottom, where I have attached three links to websites featuring Kamphaeng

Phet. You may also find general information about Thailand on the same page by

clicking on the small map.

I hope to hear from you soon.

I love you and miss you!!!

You are in my thoughts...

Love,

-Devin
