Ethiopia RPCVs,
First of all please allow me to recognize your great service for Ethiopia and thank you for same.
Global warming (gw) is a serious problem threatening the existence of all living things. One of the causes of gw is the accumulation of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere. Deforestation accelerates the build-up of CO2 and reduces oxygen in the atmosphere. Forests serve as agents in balancing the global climate. As you are well aware, one of the most deforested corners on the planet is Ethiopia. Due to deforestation, that country's soil has been exposed to erosion and loss of soil nutrients. This has partly contributed to the recurring drought and famine, which has claimed numerous human and animal lives over the years. Hence, reforestation is necessary to tackle deforestation, desertification, environmental degradation, drought and famine in Ethiopia. Reforestation in Ethiopia will also contrbute to the international effort to fight global warming. Will you join me in this effort. If so,please e-mail me. Thanks and regards, Zewdie Tibebu.
