Chris Dodd Absolutely Rips John McCain
"This is not the John McCain I have known all these years. He's been erratic, angry, and shown uncertain leadership in a time of crisis. I didn't hear from him once when we were negotiating the economic rescue package until he pulled a campaign stunt, parachuted into Washington and accomplished nothing except unnecessarily delaying this agreement for another week. If he wants to be angry at someone, he should be angry at himself, his party, and this President for being asleep at the wheel and causing this crisis.'' Senator Chris Dodd of Connecticut served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Dominican Republic in the 1960's.

When U.S. Sen. John McCain was talking this week at a town hall meeting in Wisconsin about the financial crisis facing America, he was asked if he would name the names of the people actually responsible for the enormous financial debacle. He said that some Democrats had "fought against reform'' and were "willing co-conspirators'' in the process.
As part of the speech, he specifically mentioned two Democrats who have been involved in the $700 billion bailout package - Congressman Barney Frank of Massachusetts and U.S. Senator Chris Dodd of Connecticut.
Those remarks prompted Dodd to lash out in his sharpest comments that anyone can remember against McCain.
"John McCain can spend the next 25 days trying to erase his 25-year record of deregulation, but the American people aren't buying it,'' Dodd said. "The truth is as chairman of the Commerce Committee, John McCain was the master of deregulation. Now, all of a sudden, he's found religion and is trying to paint himself as a populist regulator, but it's not going to work.''
Dodd continued, "This is not the John McCain I have known all these years. He's been erratic, angry, and shown uncertain leadership in a time of crisis. I didn't hear from him once when we were negotiating the economic rescue package until he pulled a campaign stunt, parachuted into Washington and accomplished nothing except unnecessarily delaying this agreement for another week. If he wants to be angry at someone, he should be angry at himself, his party, and this President for being asleep at the wheel and causing this crisis.''

| Peace Corps Suspends Program in Bolivia Turmoil began in Bolivia three weeks ago sparked by President Evo Morales' pledge to redistribute wealth from the east to the country's poorer highlands. Peace Corps has withdrawn all volunteers from the country because of "growing instability." Morales has thrown out US Ambassador Philip Goldberg accusing the American government of inciting the violence. This is not the first controversy surrounding Goldberg's tenure as US ambassador to Bolivia. |
