Prior to OMB, Burk capped his 30-year career at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as the chief enterprise architect, responsible for development and delivery of HUD’s EA practice, data management practice, and strategic planning process. He holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from The Ohio State University, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Dayton. He served for two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Uganda and worked for the City of Columbus, Ohio. Last year, Burk served as president of the Association for Federal Information Management (AFFIRM), a government-industry organization dedicated to improving federal government information management through education and internships.

Burk was the chief architect and manager of the Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) Program at the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for almost 3 years. He led the effort to develop a standard, government-wide business and technology framework to align federal IT investments as a means of improving government services. The FEA Framework (FEAF) has been adopted by U.S. government agencies, and by governments in other countries, including Japan, Australia, and Denmark.
