From Ohio to Africa to Michigan, Kate Runyon has been a powerful, peaceful force for change. Now, the former Program Director for the American Friends Service Committee's statewide Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues Program is bringing her background and experience to a new position as interim executive director for Triangle Foundation.
Kate's appointment was announced during Triangle Foundation's Sept. 29 State Dinner Event as part of a tribute to Jeffrey Montgomery, who formally announced his resignation as executive director. She served Triangle as a member of the Board of Trustees since 2004, a position she is resigning to take the interim E.D. job.
"Kate is a perfect choice for this position," said Montgomery. "She is creative, watchful and knows Triangle intimately. With her as interim executive director, we all can be assured that the process forward is being well-guided."
"I am very proud to share in another milestone in the history of Triangle, the appointment of Kate Runyon as interim executive Director," said Triangle Board of Trustees Chair Roland Smith. "She is endowed with relentless courage, ability, vision and a profound faith in humanity. Kate is a true trailblazer and a bridge-builder in our community, and we will all reap the benefits of having her at the helm of Triangle."

"The Triangle Foundation is filled with passionate and dedicated people striving for LGBT justice, safety and equality," said Kate. "I am deeply humbled to serve as the interim executive director while this extraordinary group of people faces the challenges and opportunities of the coming year.
"We will focus together on the Triangle Foundation’s core strengths and values – offering invaluable victim advocate services, hosting wildly successful community pride events, and making LGBT voices deeply engaged in legislative processes around the state, in Lansing and in DC,” she added. “The Triangle Foundation is a dynamic organization that will continue to thrive and meet the needs of our community throughout the state.”
