Cleveland Forest gets new supervisor
By: The Californian
Will Metz, the deputy supervisor for the Six Rivers National Forest in Northern California, has been named the new supervisor of the Cleveland National Forest, federal officials announced Friday.
Metz, 51, who was born in a small farming community in upstate New York and has worked various jobs for the U.S. Forest Service, will assume the post on Sept. 30, the service said in a news release. He replaces Tina Terrell, who left the region to become supervisor of the Sequoia National Forest in March.
The Cleveland National Forest covers about 460,000 acres in Riverside, San Diego and Orange counties. The forest headquarters is in Rancho Bernardo.
In addition to his work for the federal government, Metz took a leave of absence in 1988 to join the Peace Corps as a forester on the island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the Caribbean. He returned to the Forest Service in 1990.
